Some of the most useful systems I ever gave a client, I built for myself first. I needed them. The entire project team moved faster.
That is the Curb-Cut Effect, and it comes from the street: the ramps carved into sidewalks for wheelchair users in the 1970s turned out to help parents with strollers, travelers with rolling luggage and delivery workers with carts. An accommodation designed for the edge case became an optimization for the core. In a world of infinite distraction, everyone has a deficit of executive function; in a world of fragmented time, everyone is time-blind.
The second half of the episode introduces the four Forces the whole book is organized around, each with its own story: Probability (which bets to place), Time (the engine of compounding), Extrapolation (where those bets lead) and Consistency (the discipline of non-abandonment). Together they form the Architect’s Equation, on the book’s Figure 2: Destiny equals Direction times Engine.
Before going further, I’m honest about what this system cannot do: structural inequality is real, trauma and mental health are not engineering problems, and chance is folded into every result. Within that scope, the framework is as close to reliable as I have found. Willpower is a backup generator; architecture is the power grid.

A note on stories: as in the book, the first-person examples in this series are true in substance and may be adjusted, rounded or combined to teach the idea clearly.
